How Many Hyperlinks you Can We Add In A Single Post/Page?

Links on a page
The number of outbound links on a page can, negatively or positively, effect the overall standing of your page – this much we vaguely know from experience. But how exactly does Google see the links on your page? We've talked a lot about inbound links to a page, but not much about outbound ones. So today, let’s investigate the limitations on the number of outbound hyperlinks you have on your webpages.

The background

A few years back, web pages used to be simpler, and GoogleBot and Google’s indexing system would truncate at 100 or 101 Kilobytes, meaning they would only read the first 101 Kilobytes of a webpage, and anything beyond that wouldn’t get indexed. The webpages used to be simple, but of course, there were resource constraints too at that time.

Since the recommended page size was around 100-101K, Google introduced a guideline that said that there can be one link acceptable for each 1 Kilobyte of data. Meaning that for a 101K webpage, the recommended number of links was 101. But it was just that – a recommendation: a rough guideline. A lot of people assumed that Google will view 102 links on a page as spam, but this was incorrect.

But the web has changed!

Web pages have gotten a lot bigger, and there’s more rich media (such as images, audio/video steams etc.). So it’s not uncommon to have various things such as aggregators, timelines, and feeds etc. which have a lot more links. So as you can expect, Google removed that guideline ages ago in accordance with the developments. There might still be a limit on the file size (just as before), but it’s pretty big, and should cover most any page.

The guideline now more or less says “keep it to a reasonable number,” which might sound quite vague, but if you come to think of it, it provides a pretty good guidance.
What makes a “reasonable” number?

There are a couple factors to bear in mind here. First, the value of each link can be roughly estimated by the PageRank of the page divided by the total number of outbound links. If you have a thousand links, you will divide the PageRank by thousand. So the more links there are, the lower the amount of PageRank that flows through each individual link. In other words, your links become worthless when in larger numbers.

Another thing to keep in mind is your readers’ reaction. Put yourself in the shoes of your readers, and analyze your page critically. Or better yet, take a survey, and ask your readers whether they feel overwhelmed by the number of links on a page. Make sure you have a ‘reasonable’ amount of links on each page, such that they do not look spammy.

What Type Of Links You Disavow If There Is No Manual Penalty?

webmaster disavow links

If a manual penalty from Google has been applied, you will get to know about it from your Google Webmaster Tools dashboard. Often times, the report will tell you what backlinks to your site have caused the action, in which case you can go right ahead and disavow those links immediately. Removing certain bad links to your site might be worth your time and effort, especially if they're damaging your site's good SEO. It becomes more or less necessary once manual action has been taken on your site on account of these bad links, in which case you have to use the Disavow Tool from Google to get rid of these links. But what sort of links should be disavowed? More importantly, can you use it even when there's no manual action from Google?

Pre-emptive disavow

What about when there's no explicit manual penalty, and you just need to keep on the safe side of things? Sometimes,
Often times, people will do bad SEO that they're not proud of. They may even hire an SEO who would 'promise results', but would use some of the bad practices to make the website perform well. Such boosts are mostly temporary, and when the bubble bursts and you realize what's really going on, it's too late. BAM - You're under penalty. That's the perfect situation to use the disavow tool to discredit bad links to your site from a certain period of time.

If there's no manual manual penalty, but you're still worried that someone might be doing - or trying to do - negative SEO, or you come across a spam bot that's pulling up a bunch of links to your site and you have no idea where it came from, then that's a perfect time to pre-emptively disavow certain links. So the use of the Link Disavow Tool isn't always warranted by a message in your Google Webmaster Tools dashboard.

If you have done the work to keep an active look on your backlinks, and you see something strange going on, don't just wait around! Feel free to go ahead and use disavows, even on a domain level, especially if there's a spam bot involved, and you have no idea what it's doing, and why.

Also, if you see links from domains that don't relate to yours, you should probably check out what's on before Google does. So keeping a constant and vigilant eye on your site's backlinks is really important. You don't want to be caught up in a penalty 'out of the blue', which could cost you valuable time and effort.

What you Expect SEO Changes From Google in 2014?

Expect SEO Changes From GoogleToday i share with you about changes in seo.We know that a lot of changes happened in SEO in 2013, so what can we expect from 2014?. So now that we've just turned the New Year corner, and can see 2014 straight ahead, it's perhaps time to lay aside celebrations of making it to another year, and think about what lies in wait for y2k14. Things continually change in the SEO industry as the tactics and strategies change. The backbones remain the same, but the outer structure is pretty dynamic.

Keyword research

One of the major changes - or should I say, paradigm shifts - for SEO in 2014 is related to keyword research. Previously, Google's entire ranking algorithm and search was based on keywords and keywords alone. Search was made on the basis of keywords in a query, and the most relevant results were filtered, based on their quality (and a whole lot of other factors).

So what happened now? Well, Hummingbird happened. Google did a major overhaul of its algorithm, and introduced the Hummingbird. This new algorithm has the capability of understanding (well, trying to understand) conversation queries. It actually processes search queries not just based on their keywords, but on their meaning. This means that synonyms and phrases have a lot more meaning now, and that exact keyword matching might become a thing of the past. So it's time to start researching your audience rather than sticking to the good ol' keyword research we used to do earlier.

Link building

Google has been hacking at this practice for quite some time now, what with the updates like Panda and Penguin. Creating content and reaching out to interested parties for linking back to that content used to be a major SEO practice in the past. But not anymore. Google puts a penalty on any such link building scheme, pushing publishers to look for alternative methods.

The new way to go is now branding and social interaction, whether through a blog, a forum, or a social media network. Mentions on such platforms will now drive better quality signals to a site in the form of links or brand mentions. So social interaction is in, link building is out. These 'quality' signals that come social activity will follow the same organic patterns that communicate value with in the search engine’s index.

On-page SEO

Optimizing on-page elements for SEO is still very important. However, Google is getting much better at understanding the different parts of markup on a page. So while you previously had to fine-tune the content on your page to make it understandable for Google (which obviously meant you had to tailor content for search engines more than your users), you no longer need to. The focus now is on a site's crawlability and usability, i.e. the User Interface. With new algorithms such as Panda, SEOs should be paying more attention to how the site is being crawled and used when it comes to optimizing “on page”.

Whether these changes are for the better or worse, only time can tell. But they sure make the job of a SEO much smaller, and yet more challenging at the same time. The previous era was about automation - this one is about relations. The socially interactive people get the advantage now, and it is important that bloggers like you and me change and adapt to these developments.

Are You Use Google Keyword Planner For Effective Blogging in 2014?

google planner for better seo
This post is all about using this new keyword tool for blogging (and SEO).The Google Keyword Tool, well know and used by bloggers for keyword research over the years, has now been replaced by a new tool called Google Keyword Planner. Perhaps this new tool is just in accordance with the latest SEO changes - or perhaps it isn't. But whether for the better or the worse, we're now stuck with tool for carrying out research on keywords, since its predecessor was one of the best free tools we had for the purpose.

What's new?

Google has shaken up quite a few things here. First of all, the tool is no longer public. You have to sign up for an AdWords account, which even though is free, still doesn't beat the convenience offered by the freely and publicly available tool of the past.

Then there's the lack of device segmentation. You can no longer segment desktop, tablet and mobile traffic, since now it's all merged into a single number, which is a big fat bummer for many who have mobile-/tablet-optimized websites and drive a significant traffic from mobile devices. As you use the tool, you'll realize that a lot more has changed (as we'll soon discuss).

Using Google Keyword Planner

The interface has been changed, and when you log into the tool, you can see four options you can choose from.

The options are pretty straightforward. You can search for new keyword and ad-group ideas using a single, or a list of keywords, or you can look up search volumes or traffic estimates. Here are the options explained briefly.
  • Search for new keywords and ad-group ideas - Find new keywords related to a phrase, website, or category. This is the most basic, and most used option for finding keyword ideas
  • Get search volumes for a list of keywords or group them into ad groups - Enter or upload keywords to research historical stats like search volume, or group them into ad groups
  • Get traffic estimates for a list of keywords - Enter or upload keywords to get click and cost estimates
  • Multiply keyword lists to get new keyword ideas - Create new keyword combinations and get search volume stats or traffic estimates

Now there are quite a few things to keep in mind while researching for keywords.

  • Location-targeting - The old keyword tool only allowed for "local" and "global" results. Now, you get results for the defined location settings. Not only can you choose a particular country, you can even drill down to a city! You can change location settings from the left-column.
  • Trends - The old keyword tool provided average search volume from the most recent month, which can be very misleading. Sales of certain products are seasonal - they fall in one month, and spike in another. The new Planner, however, reduces the chance for misinterpretation by showing an overall year average, with a convenient pop-over showing seasons monthly trends in volume
  • CPC - The new tool has estimated keyword CPC data turned on by default, unlike the old tool, and is supposedly more accurate than the old one.
So are the new changes worth celebrating, or are we going to miss the old tried-and-true Google Keyword Tool? For a heavy AdWords user or a Google shareholder you should welcome the change! AdWords users will appreciate the tighter integration in terms of being able to brainstorm and easily add keywords to their campaign. Plus, the “more accurate” CPC estimates, ideas tab, and increased visibility into location targeting are all nice touches.

But sadly, this transition seems to be in line with changes Google’s made over the last few years that are increasingly focusing on satisfying shareholders and the bottom line. By making the tool only accessible via AdWords, Google is guaranteed to increase revenues as more people sign up for accounts. And Conductor’s insights into the unusual increase in reported search volumes are unusually convenient for Google from the perspective of potentially enticing more advertisers.

And in a world where mobile is growing insanely fast, I can’t think of any good reasons for limiting insights user have into mobile search. It’s a real disappointment that this functionality is no longer available.

Sadly, we think our old beloved keyword tool has been re-positioned to benefit AdWord users and Google’s interests more than the average blogger/webmaster. What do you think of all these changes? Leave your comments below and let us know what you think!

Are You Use Article Directories For Link Building in 2014?

Directories For Link Building
Hi guys! in today's topic i share some important things about Article Directories.  Building links from various different sources to get a higher search engine ranking has always been one of the most popular SEO techniques. People have forever been using archives, blog listing, article directories, and so on to build links. But that was then. And this is now. Google has ruffled up more than a few feathers in the past couple years, and SEO as we knew it is no longer the same. So what about resources like article directories? Are they still relevant today?

Article directories

Article directories are places where you wrote an article ranging from 300 to 1,000 words (possibly more), and if approved, got compensated for the article in the form of a backlink, or money etc. The articles would mostly be published under your name, so you still retained some of the rights. Authors had bios at the end of their articles with possibly two or three links with keyword-rich anchor text.

Article directories such as Ezine Articles, Articles Factory, Go Articles etc. were very popular, and had twofold benefits. For one thing, they were a way of building relevant backlink that can't be questioned. And for another, they provided a way of earning a quick buck by writing articles. Hundreds and thousands of people quickly realized the potential, and started contributing massively to compete for the leader-boards.

These popular article directories, however, had pitfalls. You submitted an article to a bunch of different directories, and got lucky if more than one of them accepted it. Anyone could download, or pay to download such articles. This used to benefit the authors since whoever downloaded those articles and put it on their own sites gave links to the author.

And therein lies the problem.

In practice, this often tends to be lower quality stuff. Often times, spammy and low quality content gets sprayed off article directories, and syndicated all over the web. So Google has now begun to penalized links generated in such a manner.

Besides, not every website that your content gets downloaded to is a good quality website. Hence, links generated in this way are seen as spammy, or bad links that could cause a penalty.

As I've earlier said, this practice might have been useful a few years ago, but not anymore. Things have changed, and you should too. Avoid creating content for article directories, and instead focus on building your own content. This will bring you a lot more benefits in the longer run. All the best :)

There are so many blogs out there that some people think they are just adding to the noise. And we totally agree. There are literally tonnes of blogs that are low quality, poorly written, not very actively maintained, or worst of all, are spammy. But just because there are cheap blogs out there doesn't mean it is a reason not to start blogging. Which brings us to the question of the day; Why should you start blogging? Why now, and not later?

The competition is growing!

Don't let that hinder you! Blogging is on the rise! If you don't go along with the wave, you will get left behind! It is estimated that hundreds of blogs are published every minute! You should create one too before it is so late that you are unable to surface. Also, domains are being scooped up really fast. Who knows, the domain you want to register today might be gone tomorrow? Start blogging now!

Internet services have increased

There are tonnes of services out there that will help you instantly create a website or blog. Free publishing platforms such as BloggerWordPress etc are the most widely used. Other than that, you can easily buy hosting and domain from services such as HostGator, which also provide free site builder tools for you to get your site up and running. There are other such internet services which makes life easier for bloggers. So why hesitate when you can get job done as easily as ever?

Google policy changes, now means business

This is the most important point I want to discuss about. Google changes its algorithm almost each year.  This year, it was the Penguin while last year, it was the PandaBoth these updates wrecked havoc among many websites and blogs. Before Penguin, people didn't know what to do, and how to recover. But now, after Penguin, Google has made it pretty clear that low quality websites or sites with cheap or fake backlinks are going to be punished. This impacted a lot of bloggers, who now have to work very hard to increase quality throughout their sites.
Google doesn't like being disturbed

But for those wanting to start now, this could prove to be beneficial. They now know what Google wants. They won't be penalized. And so, they can start with a fresh, clean record. Old bloggers will need to fish out their old, low quality posts while new bloggers will have no such problem! :)

Start today, earn tomorrow!

If you're into this stuff, then there's really no reason to hold back. If you start today, you will start earning tomorrow. Little by little, you can build your blog into a brand and start making money. Don't hesitate about the time it'll take, because it will always take a lot of time, and effort. That's the secret to blogging actually. Time, and effort. Put in both, and over time, you'll see vivid results.

Always remember that everyone has to start from zero. Even pro-bloggers started from zero, years and years ago. Some blogs are as old as 6 years old. And their efforts have finally paid off. Now, they are earning thousands of dollars monthly! Who knows, you could be the pro-blogger everyone looks up to in four year's time? :)

How To Check Duplicate Content Copied From Your Website?

Duplicate Content is bad!you always run the risk of getting your online content ripped off and copied. It's a risk because even though search engines might be getting smarter at detecting the original source of some duplicate content, it isn't always easy. And there's no guarantee that the original source will be determined every time, and the duplicated content penalized. Not only do you end up competing against your 'own content' so to speak, search engines also try to eliminate duplicate copies of some content, which could result in your content's elimination altogether. Here are a few ways you can check for multiple copies of your content elsewhere on the internet.

There are many ways to find duplicate content. But doing so isn't as easy as it might seem. For one, there's the sheer number of websites that might be copying your content, and for another, search queries are often limited to a certain number of words, with the less significant prepositions like "in" "or" "and" etc not counted. So simply copying a piece of your content and pasting it as a Google Search query won't always do the trick. Here's what you can do.
Check Duplicate Content Copied

Quoted search queries

Many beginners don't know this, but if you enclose a search query in Google Search with quotation marks, Google will specifically search for that whole string. Ordinarily, it only searches for keywords. For example, if I search for find duplicate content on Google, it will show me most relevant results that have all three keywords, or a combination of them in any order or any number of them. However, if I search for "find duplicate content", it will search for results that have the exact string "find duplicate content" in them.
Using this technique, you can copy some text from your content, and paste it in Google Search (enclosed with quotation marks). This way, you can find exactly matching content. Doing the same thing without the quotation marks won't be any good, because Google will only search for any combination of the words in the search string.

Use the intitle operator

If someone is blatantly copying your content, then chances are that they might have copied the title tag as it is. You can search Google specifically for titles by using the intitle search operator. For example, if I were to search for duplicate content of this very post, I'd use the following Google Search query.

intitle:"How To Check For Duplicate Content Copied From Your Site?"

Now in all fairness, some webpages might coincidentally have the same title as yours with different content. But if there are any rogues out there copying your exact content, this is where you'll find them.

Google Webmaster Tools

Sometimes, when Google indexes pages that it detects contain duplicate content, it notifies the original author about them. But you can only avail this feature if you have a verified Google Webmaster Tools account. Once verified, you will start receiving messages for critical issues, such as problems found with your site, or duplicate content discovered elsewhere on the internet. In theory, this is very good. but in practice, Google isn't the best for this job. It might take some time for Google to discover duplicate content, and it won't always send you a message. But for starters, it might be a useful features. Just don't put much stock into it.

The inurl search operator

Just like the intitle operator, the inurl operator can be used to search for duplicated content. For example;

 inurl:how_to_check_for_duplicate_content

This is a sure way to catch bots, because content copied automatically will mostly also include similar or same URL structure. People might sometimes change the title of a post after a bot has copied it from somewhere, just to throw the original content creator off-trail. But they won't always change the URL, which makes them easy prey!

Bing Doesn't Index Sitemap of Blogger Blogs. Why ?

Bing Search Index Sitemap
Apparently, Bing's indexing system is quite different from that of Google. In Google, you simply have to submit your sitemap to Webmaster Tools, and it will automatically index your blog after a few days. But with Bing, there's no knowing when your blog will be indexed. Often times, it simply doesn't index your sitemap. Bing's community forums are filled with complaints just like this.

For most people (and webmasters), Google is the only search engine, or at least the only worthy search engine. Granted that it controls two-thirds of the market. But with Bing and Yahoo!partnering up, they control a quarter of the market share as well. So it's time we paid more attention to Bing, because unlike Google Search, things don't just magically happen with Bing. For example, Bing doesn't easily index sitemaps for Blogger and WordPress blogs.

There's a reason why Google owns the market space. It has a mature and sophisticated search engine, whereas Bing still needs to learn a lot. Perhaps we're too used to Google by now to enjoy the features offered by Bing. But be that as it may, Bing is still in its infancy, and have yet to develop the rich indexing capabilities offered by Google. Here are some of the ways the Bing search engine works differently from Google.

Page size -

Back in the days of old, Google used to limit page sizes to 100K, at which point its crawler would truncate, and stop further crawling of a page. Now, that limit is gone. Bing, however, still retains such a limit (of approximately 100K). This results in an incomplete crawling in case where a page size is large, or contains rich media.

Redirections -

Bing, unlike Google, doesn't support 302 redirects. Google works with both 301 or 302, but if a website returns a 302 to Bing, it refuses to follow and index that page, and sometimes refuses to index the website altogether!

Canonical pages -

Bing doesn't support canonical tags either. It relies on the web-developer to handle canonicalization from a programmatic standpoint. Bing initially accesses a domain without the "www" part. If a 200 (OK) is returned, it keeps that version. If it finds a 301, only then will it go to the www version. 302 errors are discarded as discussed.

Backlinks -

Google clearly has the largest index. In years past, Google made a big deal about how many web pages were in their index. These days, they don’t really brag too much about their index size as they have won that battle. Instead of seeking to index each and every piece of content available on a domain, Bing actively removes web pages from their index if those pages are not found to have enough link authority or value to rank in their SERPs.

Bing will certainly evolve as their search engine matures. Stay tuned for our future posts that will discuss ranking factors for Bing as well as updates to their indexing capabilities Stay frosty :)

Best Top 5 SEO Techniquies That You Are Learn in 2014

Best Top 5 SEO Techniquies That You Are Learn in 2014
Top 5 SEO Techniquies 2014Here are some top SEO skills one should learn in order to be successful in 2014.
The basics and fundamentals of SEO change periodically over the years. These ever-changing circumstances lead most of us to learn some new things every year - and let of some things old

. You see, there are new SEO skills needed each year (or every so often) to keep up with the change and keep surviving. 2014 is no exception. A lot has changed since last year, and there's a lot of new stuff to be learned.

1. Public Relations

This era is all about public relations! They've always been an integral part of any successful marketing campaign, but are now more important than ever. Today's customer is harder than ever to get.
Public relations can be used to build strong powerful links - links that don’t trigger penalties such as Penguin. Understanding how to pitch a story to news outlets, get them to run the story, and then link back to your site, will be one of the most powerful link building tactics now and in the future.

2. Research

Whether it’s keyword research or content development; research is becoming an increasingly important step with SEO. Not to say that it wasn't before, but is now more so than ever.

Read It: How The Social Sites Links Effect Website Rankings?

The Google Hummingbird update has now forced (or is trying to force) webmasters to develop an understanding of user intent, i.e. how users search on Google. SEOs need to now understand what types of questions users are asking, not just what words are relevant to the page, since the Hummingbird now entertains 'conversational' search queries as compared to simple keywords.

3. Taxonomy Design

Taxonomy is the practice of classifying things at a conceptual level. Roughly put, this can include your blog labels (for Blogger) and Categories and Tags (for WordPress). They might sound simple, but there's more to them than meets they eye. You might start organizing your inventory around product types. But maybe your target demographic searches for products by type of use, or by manufacturer. A small percentage of this demographic that might include enthusiast gamers might search specifically for gaming products, so there might be a need for further classification.

Why is taxonomy design so important for SEO? With Hummingbird, mobile search, and other future search trends, defining concepts is more important than ever. A strong taxonomy design can be the foundation for other important elements such as content development, information architecture, and keyword research.

4. Community Management

Online community management has become an important task with brand building and social media management. Having a robust community means more exposure for your brand, and a closer connection to potential consumers. With Google’s ever increasing dependence on Google+ as a platform, community management is becoming an important part of SEO.

5. HTML and Structured Data

Of course, it goes without saying that a basic understanding of HTML is valuable asset to SEO. Meta, title, and anchor tags are the traditional on-page SEO HTML elements. However, now Google is putting more emphasis on structured data and authorship. Both of which requires unique HTML tags to implement.

Read up on our article about making your site Google friendly by using Structured data. It should help you grasp the importance of structured data, and how to implement.
